3 Days and 2 nights with TSUYOSHI in Hong Kong
(Day 3)
by Totoro

After 2 days, I was a little bit exhausted.  However, when I got the call from the friends that Tsuyoshi would appear at Yau Ma Dei (a place quite "local" in Hong Kong, an old housing area), I got the bag and left the forest at once.

We met at Yau Ma Dei "Jade market".  We saw the crew setting up the equipment, but not yet seen Tsuyoshi, Fukata-san or other actors.  One of the friends told us about she met "Mr. Doctor" (sorry that I don't remember his real name) at the airport.

After 1:00 p.m., lots of photographers of the newspaper appeared around, sure we knew that Tsuyoshi and Fukata-san were coming.  So we also got ready.  A coach came, Tsuyoshi and "Yuta-kun" (the little boy, again, forget his real name, gome...) came out.  All the photographers crowded to them and took photos.  Same as last night in Central, the situation was out of control again.  Most important, some photographers even knocked down some equipment set by the crew.  Tsuyoshi got angry at once.  We saw that his face turned bad at once.  The staff asked the photographers to give them ways to go.

Few minutes later, they started shooting.  Tsuyoshi and Yuta-kun walked along the street.  They went to the camera man and took a look at how they did.  Then they went to a back street again.  Fukata-san has already been there waiting for the two of them.  We went after them.  The photographers also would like to take the best position for taking photos.  As a result, the two sides of the back street were crowded with people.  Haha!  As mentioned above, that area is an old housing area, there are lots of elderly walking and staying.  They also crowded up to see what's happening.  As a result, the crew had to "block" the two sides by some mattresses.

However, they had to take some shorts with the street as the background.  They had to ask the people crowding around to give ways.  But there was only a gentleman (a member of the crew) asking people to keep a clear path at one side.  Over the driving path, there still lots of people crowding on the other side of the pavement.  We were squeezed out by the photographers and stood at the other side of the pavement at that moment.  As we noted that the gentleman was quite helpless, we helped him to ask others to stand aside and kept a clear path.  Haha!

As a result, we became the new "AD" of the crew.  When the director said "ok, start shooting now", the gentleman and other AD of the crew waived at us and asked us to get ready.  Haha!  We were most delighted as we can actually help them, even in very minor thing.

After shooting at the back street, everyone getting excited as Tsuyoshi and Fukata-san were prepared to leave.  The photographers started running along the streets to chase them.  Tsuyoshi and Fukata-san were crowded with people to the coach.  When the coach started, the photographers got on their cars as well, so did some fans.  They got the taxies and chased after the coach.  Haha, the situation there was quite interesting, just like shooting movie ne!

We?  As it was almost 3:00 p.m. and we still had not have our lunch, we decided to go for lunch first.  (Haha, a group of "hungry" fans)  We went back to the hotel and heard that the crew had already left to another hotel at Hung Hom for shooting and for dinner.  We met the script writer (quite handsome ne) and the director of "Food Fight" in the lobby.  They got on a car and thought that they went to another hotel to join the gang for dinner.

As we knew that it was impossible to go in that hotel at Hung Hom and watched them shooting the drama, we walked around and had our dinner first.  Haha, eating again, within 6 hours.

We then went to the hotel and took a look.  That was about 11:00 p.m. already.  There were photographers and reporters, and group of fans waiting just outside the hotel.  Heard from them that the crew moved to the outdoor swimming pool of that hotel for shooting.  And the swimming pool closed at 12:00 a.m.  As a result, they should leave soon.

Remembered we met the director?  We thought that they, including Tsuyoshi and Fukata-san, might have a nice dinner in the hotel.  But one of the reporters told us that as time was running short, they only had "lunch boxes" as dinner.  Oh, no, poor Tsuyoshi.

All of a sudden, the people moved.  The cars and coaches got ready.  We saw Tsuyoshi walking out, the director was behind him, just like he was Tsuyoshi's guard.  Guess what?  The moment I saw Tsuyoshi, my heart sank to the bottom.  Tsuyoshi looked..... "awful", should I use this word?  He looked very very tired.  Even no smile at all.  Same as "Yuki" had mentioned in her report, at that moment, I wished that Tsuyoshi had never been to Hong Kong and worked that hard.  Poor him.  We all worried about him.

After the coach left, we decided to go home too.  We've wondered along the streets for the past two days and really exhausted.  Besides, we did not want to disturb Tsuyoshi anymore after seeing his tired face.

The next morning, we went to the airport, but too late that Fukata-san had already left.  So we went back to work.  Then we heard that actually Tsuyoshi had not yet left in the morning, he stayed for a half day and left Hong Kong in the afternoon.  He went to another LV shop in Central.  I was happy to hear that as at last, Tsuyoshi got some private time to do his own shopping, with no fans crowding around, no photographers taking photos.  Hope that this half day "holiday" for Tsuyoshi could add points to his impression on Hong Kong.  Hope he find that still Hong Kong is a nice place to visit again.

My impression on Tsuyoshi..... more

In the afternoon before the shooting at Yau Ma Dei, this was the first time we saw Tsuyoshi getting a little bit annoyed by the crowd, when some photographers pull down some equipment set by the crew.  As mentioned above, we were afraid that Tsuyoshi would get angry.  Luckily he concentrated on his work soon.  Frankly speaking, I am quite happy to read from the news with the title "Tsuyoshi getting angry".  So that others know that Tsuyoshi is also just an ordinary man, and how he takes serious on his work.  He is not always the "iihito" ne.

After the 3 days and 2 nights, I find that I admire this young man even more.  He is friendly to all his fans, always carries a smile, never shows his unsatisfactory, always be patient.  He is highly appreciated by Hong Kong people during this trip.  I remembered once a reporter mentioned, "Tsuyoshi is one of the kindest show biz people I've met.  He is so nice and friendly that I will not write any bad on him."  Haha!  I was very very touched.  Tsuyoshi, do you know you've won many people's hearts?  Congratulations!

It is really good for Tsuyoshi to come to Hong Kong.  First, let him knows that he also gets fans in Hong Kong, not only in Japan, and some are quite "die hearted" (I mean us, haha!).  Second, he became popular during those days in Hong Kong.  At least more people in Hong Kong know him, "ah, that guy is Tsuyoshi."  And know his "correct" name (in Chinese).  The newspaper has to "create" the word "Nagi" in Chinese for him, haha!  "Nagi" is not a Chinese character ma.  Third, because he and Fukata-san came to Hong Kong to shoot "Food Fight Special", more people get interested in watching "Food Fight" shown in Cable TV.  (Cable TV should thanks them for the promotion, heehee).

To me, Tsuyoshi becomes "real"!  In the past, Tsuyoshi is only the "idol" I saw on various TV shows, play and concerts.  We've already "known" his character from these.  However, after I met the "real" Tsuyoshi, I found that "bingo!  This is Tsuyoshi, exactly the one I know from TV."  That is, nothing is "made-up" from TV.  His real character is that "a nice guy".  I am most happy to know that I find the right person, haha!

A big THANK YOU

During these days, I must thank a lot of people:-

The Kusanagi Family, who accompanied me to run from here to there to follow Tsuyoshi.

The persons from whom we got all sorts of news re Tsuyoshi in Hong Kong.  Without them, we will become a group of crazy guys searching the target on the streets.

The Japanese crew, Mr. Translator, the guards.  They are all very nice people.  May be they have some arguments with the Hong Kong press, all they would like to do is to get things done properly.  They are kind to the fans.  We think some of the crew should already recognized us.  Haha!

The Hong Kong press.  Though their way of getting first hand news and photos maybe annoying to the Japanese crew, they really help a lot in "promoting" Tsuyoshi in Hong Kong.  There are full page news in most of the newspapers in Hong Kong during those days ne.  And they were very hard working too.  At least in every location we met them.  Heehee.

The director of "Food Fight" (sorry that I don't know his name in English).  He is the magician that made our dreams come true.  He decided to shoot "Food Fight Special" in Hong Kong!  The greatest choice ne.

Besides, the timing that the crew came to Hong Kong is a miracle for us.  They came during the weekend. If they come during the weekdays, we have to struggle if we should take leaves or not.... which is always a headache.  So, are we lucky?

TSUYOSHI, who brings me an unforgettable weekend in early March.  Who let me learn a lot during these days.  Who is my stimulate that though I only slept less than 10 hours for the three nights, I could still run along the streets to chase him.  And most important, let me know the REAL he!

I appreciate all what the above persons did and would like to clap my hands for all of you!

You may not understand what these days mean to me.  All I can say that I am one of the luckiest person in the world!

THANKS GOD!

Thanks a lot for all who read this long and boring report.  ^_<
